Lahaina, Hawaii
The Cartheginian was tied up at Lahaina Harbor for years. It was
left over from a movie that was filmed here, but lately was just rusing
away. In December 2005 she was towed offshore and sunk in 95 feet
of water.
We went out to see the wreck with our scooters and halfway out we came
across a whale and her calf. She was the size of two
schoolbuses. Thankfully the water was very clear and were could
stay off by 50 feet and still admire her. We spent about fifteen
minutes just photographing her until she decided we were no longer
interesting and swam away. We still had a few shots left in the
camera for the Cartheginian.
